The Desserts on Atlantic Ave That Look Too Real to Eat

506 E Atlantic Ave, Delray Beach · Sun-Thu 8AM-7PM, Fri-Sat 8AM-10PM · $$

The fruit desserts at Tartelette look so real you will double-check before biting. The peach, the lemon, the strawberry, the mango: each one is a delicate mousse hiding under a lifelike skin. The patisserie brought the trick up from Boca to 506 East Atlantic this spring, and the Delray room is a full sit-down cafe now, so you can settle in with a matcha. Mornings are the calm window if you want to photograph your dessert in good light.

This Week's Highlights

Now Open · Boca Raton

Halal Nashville Hot Chicken, Open Late on Weekends

158 NW 20th St, Boca Raton · Mon-Thu Noon-11PM, Fri-Sun Noon-Midnight · $$

MJ's Hot Chicken opened on NW 20th earlier this year, cooking to order and keeping it fully halal, which is still hard to find in the hot-chicken world. The Nashville sandwich is the signature and the heat builds as you go, but the sleeper is the Classic Smash Burger. Review after review says the same thing: nobody expects a chicken place to go that hard on a burger. Friday through Sunday the kitchen runs to midnight, which makes it a rare late-night halal option in Boca.

The Viral Ilocos Empanadas on Lake Ave

720 Lake Ave, Lake Worth Beach · Thu-Tue, Closed Wed · $$

The empanadas people keep posting are the real reason to find Kanto's counter at 720 Lake Ave in downtown Lake Worth Beach. It is Filipino street food from the Lutong Pinoy team, bold and built to share: lumpia and skewers around $7, lechon bao at $12, crispy pata at $24. Get the Ilocos empanada first, before you fill up on anything else. Skip Wednesday, they are closed.

Little Moir's Newest Fish Spot in Jupiter

6390 W Indiantown Rd, Jupiter · Mon-Thu 11AM-9PM, Fri-Sat till 9:30PM, Closed Sun · $$$

The Little Moir's family opened Sweet Fish in May, in Chasewood Plaza on Indiantown Road at Central Boulevard. Do not let the Publix plaza fool you: there is a carved wetlands scene over the bar and a menu that runs from the sweet potato crusted catch at market price up to a $49 ribeye. Here is the part to know before you go. There are two menus, lunch and dinner, and the same plates cost less at lunch. Their site does not publish when lunch pricing ends, so call and ask. Closed Sundays.

Your Napkin Comes Clamped Shut at This One

365 N Congress Ave, Boynton Beach · Sun-Thu 11AM-10PM, Fri-Sat till 11PM · $$

The napkins arrive wrapped like little branded bandanas, warm, and you will think about pocketing one. Ford's Garage opened on North Congress in June: 7,500 square feet, vintage gas pumps, a Model T over the bar, and seating for more than 250. Come with people, get a signature burger and a local craft beer, and grab the patio if the weather cooperates.

Dim Sum · West Boca

The Dim Sum Hiding in an Office Plaza on Glades

7860 Glades Rd Ste 105, Boca Raton · Daily 11AM-12:30AM, Wed till 10PM · $$

818 Shanghai runs real dim sum out of an office plaza near the Turnpike: soup dumplings, shrimp rice rolls, turnip cakes. You order off a menu rather than flagging down a cart, which sounds less romantic but means nothing rolls past you and disappears. Big round tables with lazy susans, so bring people and order wide. One tip worth money: dim sum is regular price until 3PM, and after that every item costs a dollar more. Get there around 1 or 2 and let it stretch.
