A good 561 weekend does not happen by accident. Here is a full day, mapped: morning coffee in Boca, an all-day brunch room in Delray, a Picasso in the afternoon, and a vinyl bar in Lake Worth Beach to close it out. Screenshot it and run it start to finish.
Morning: La Boulangerie Boul'Mich (Boca Raton)
Start at the French bakery with a Latin twist at Town Center, 6000 Glades Rd. Everything is baked from scratch, so get the plain croissant ($5) and a cortadito ($4.50), or the pain au chocolat ($7.25) if you want the real order.
One thing worth knowing: there are two of them. Go to the sit-down bakery at the valet entrance, which opens at 9 and has its own bistro seating. The kiosk inside the mall does not open until 10.
Midday: The Modern Rose (Delray Beach)
A block off Atlantic at 142 SE 6th Ave, The Modern Rose serves all-day brunch inside a room packed wall to wall with antiques. Order La Vie en Matcha ($17), croissant french toast with mascarpone and two eggs, and ask to sit in the tea room. That is the whole point of coming here.
Saturday and Sunday are the only long days. They run 8 to 5 on the weekend and close at 3 every other day of the week, so this is the one time you are not rushing. They do not take reservations online, so call if you want one.
Afternoon: Boca Raton Museum of Art (Boca Raton)
A Picasso drawing and a Jasper Johns print are hanging at 501 Plaza Real right now. They are part of Modernisms: Art from the Manes Collection, which runs through October 11, and there are four other shows up alongside it.
It is $16 for adults, $12 for seniors 65 and up, and free for anyone under 18. It is also the coldest room in Boca in July. Park free in Garage A at the northwest corner of Mizner Park rather than feeding the meters on Plaza Real, and go before 5, when they close on weekends.
Night: Off The Clock (Lake Worth Beach)
End at the listening bar at 921 Lake Ave, where DJs spin Caribbean, Afrobeats and jazz on vinyl right behind the bar. The food is small plates, Caribbean flavors with French technique, so think jerk cubano and salt cod fritters.
Doors at 5, and there is a semi-formal dress code, so do not roll in from the beach. Closed Mondays.
