The 561 Scoop · Effective Date: May 15, 2026
The short version: We collect your email address to send you The 561 Scoop newsletter, and we don’t sell it. Our free mobile app, 561 Approved, works without an account — you can browse anonymously. The app may use your location to show what’s near you, remembers what you save on your device, and only collects your email if you choose to give it. You can unsubscribe from emails anytime, and you control location access in your phone’s settings.
The 561 Scoop is a free weekly email newsletter and mobile app covering local events, restaurants, and news in Boca Raton, Delray Beach, Boynton Beach, and the surrounding Palm Beach County area, Florida. We also operate the 561 Approved iOS app. You can reach us at [email protected] or by mail at 433 Plaza Real, Boca Raton, FL 33432
We collect your email address when you subscribe to The 561 Scoop, whether through our website, a Facebook or Instagram ad, or another sign-up method. We also collect standard usage data — when you open our emails or click links inside them, our email platform records that interaction so we can understand what content readers find useful. When you visit the561scoop.com, we collect basic website analytics (pages visited, browser type, time on page). We also use the Meta Pixel, which tracks website visits for advertising purposes (see Section 6).
You can use the app without creating an account or giving us your name. Specifically, the app may collect:
Email address (optional). If you save a place, use the concierge/chat feature, or opt in, we ask for your email and send a one-time login code to confirm it. Providing it also subscribes you to The 561 Scoop newsletter (you can unsubscribe anytime). If you never provide it, we never have it.
Profile details (optional). When you create an account, we ask your age range (18+) and interests, and we derive your general home area (city/ZIP) from your device location. We use these to personalize recommendations and understand our audience. We do not collect your exact date of birth. You can delete your account and all of this data anytime in the app under Settings.
In-app activity (analytics). We record actions like places you view, like, or search for, tied to a randomly generated anonymous device identifier — not to your name or email. This helps us understand which listings are useful and improve the app.
Location. If you grant permission, the app uses your device location (coarse or precise) to show places “near you.” Location is used on your device and sent to our server only to return nearby results — it is not stored against your identity, and you can deny or revoke this anytime in your phone’s Settings.
Feedback you submit. If you send feedback through the app, we collect whatever you write so we can read and act on it.
Content you create in the app. If you use the AI chat or image features, the text or prompts you enter are processed to generate a response (see Section 5).
The app does not collect payment information, your contacts, your photos, or any sensitive personal information.
We use your information to:
Send you The 561 Scoop newsletter and occasional transactional emails (like a welcome email);
Operate the app’s features — show nearby places, remember what you save, and power chat and image generation;
Understand engagement so we can improve our content and the app;
Read and respond to feedback you send us.
We will not use your email to send you unrelated promotions, sell access to your inbox to advertisers, or contact you at a frequency beyond what you signed up for.
Your saved places and preferences are stored primarily on your device. Anonymous activity data and any email you provide are stored on our servers (see Section 7) so the app can function across sessions. Because saves live on your device, deleting the app removes your local data; to remove server-side data, contact us (Section 9).
The app includes AI-powered features. When you use the chat/concierge, your messages are sent to Anthropic (the “Claude” AI service) to generate a reply. When you use image generation, your prompt is sent to Google (Gemini) to create an image. We send only what’s needed to produce the response, and we don’t send your email or identity along with it. Please don’t enter sensitive personal information into these features.
Our website uses the Meta Pixel, a tracking tool from Meta Platforms. It collects data about your visit — pages viewed, actions taken — and reports it back to Meta so we can measure ad performance and build audiences for future campaigns. The Meta Pixel is used on our website only; the 561 Approved app does not use the Meta Pixel. To opt out of Meta’s ad targeting, use Meta’s Ad Preferences or the Digital Advertising Alliance.
To run The 561 Scoop and the 561 Approved app, we work with a small number of service providers:
Beehiiv — our email delivery platform. Your email address is stored on their servers and used to send the newsletter. Privacy policy
Cloudflare — hosts the app’s backend (servers, database, and file storage), processing requests and storing app data. Privacy policy
Anthropic — powers the app’s AI chat/concierge. Messages you send are processed to generate replies. Privacy policy
Google (Gemini) — powers in-app image generation from your prompts. Privacy policy
Slack — feedback you submit in the app is delivered to our internal Slack so our team can read it. Privacy policy
Meta (Facebook / Instagram) — if you subscribed through a Lead Form ad, your email is passed to us through Facebook’s system. We also use the Meta Pixel on our website. Privacy policy
Zapier — automation that connects Facebook Lead Ads to Beehiiv. Your email passes through in transit but is not stored there. Privacy policy
Amazon Associates — we participate in the Amazon affiliate program. Clicking an Amazon link in our newsletter and making a purchase may earn us a small commission at no extra cost to you, and may trigger Amazon’s own tracking.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your email address or personal data to any third party for their own marketing purposes.
You can unsubscribe from emails anytime via the link at the bottom of any email from us, or by emailing [email protected]. In the app, you can turn off location access anytime in your phone’s Settings, and deleting the app removes data stored on your device.You can request a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to delete it, or ask us to correct it. Email us at [email protected] and we’ll respond within 30 days.
Every email we send identifies The 561 Scoop as the sender, includes our mailing address, and contains a working unsubscribe link. We process all unsubscribe requests within 10 business days and never use deceptive subject lines or sender information.
The 561 Scoop and the 561 Approved app are not directed at anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has subscribed or used the app, please contact us at [email protected] and we will remove their information immediately.
If you’re a California resident, you have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what data we collect, the right to delete it, and the right to opt out of the sale of your data. We do not sell personal data. To exercise your rights, email us at [email protected].
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll update the effective date at the top. If the changes are material, we’ll notify subscribers by email.
