Happy Sunday, Boca! 🌙
Summer just kicked in. The snowbirds are gone, parking is open, and every restaurant you've been putting off has the shortest wait times they'll see until October. This week: a Pompano Beach dessert bar making viral Dubai chocolate, an ambitious new global restaurant that just opened in Boca, a pizza institution at the same corner since 1981, and two exhibits at Morikami worth a morning before August is over.

The Pompano Beach Dessert Bar Worth the Drive From Boca
There's a small family-owned bakery in Pompano Beach making viral Dubai chocolate, gluten-free macarons, and from-scratch mochi fresh every day, and most of Boca still hasn't made the 15-minute drive. The mochi is the made-from-scratch kind with a soft, creamy center, not the frozen grocery-store version. Worth the trip once, then you keep finding reasons to go back.

Nomade Boca Raton Just Opened - and It's Worth Going
Bold, global flavors in a warm room full of handmade Moroccan glassware and handcrafted tile, designed by co-owner Mary C. Webster. Lamb lollipops, lomo saltado, tuna tartare, avocado crispy rice, and chicken schnitzel, all from a single kitchen pulling from North Africa, the Mediterranean, Latin America, and Europe. It just opened at 6030 SW 18th St and it's one of the more ambitious rooms Boca has seen this year. Go early, while it's still easy to get a table.

They cut one-sixth slices off a 20-inch pie, the biggest slice in Boca, and load them with pepperoni, meatball, and sausage. Forty-five years at the same address, still NY-style, still no-frills. Order a slice fresh from the oven and grab a Pizza Popover while you're there.
Morikami Has Two Must-See Exhibits Running Through August
Yokai: Scenes of the Supernatural in Japanese Woodblock Prints and Courage & Compassion are both on view through August 30. About 20 minutes north of Boca in Delray Beach, and one of the best quiet morning trips in the county right now.
🍴 Boca Food Scene
Old Heidelberg - German Food and a 2-Liter Beer Boot, 30 Minutes From Boca
A Tudor beer hall with house-made sausages, pounded-thin Wiener Schnitzel, and German draft poured into a 2-liter boot made for sharing. Old Heidelberg has been serving some of the most authentic German food in South Florida since the 1980s, about 30 minutes south on I-95. Worth the drive.
