Boca is getting a new restaurant this Saturday, and it looks like an ambitious one. Nomade Boca Raton opens its doors for the first time on June 6 at 6030 SW 18th Street, a spot that doesn't announce itself much from the road. The bar is lined with handcrafted tile work, the tables will be set with handmade Moroccan glassware, and woven decorative baskets hang throughout the space. Co-owner Mary C. Webster designed the room, drawing from her childhood in Ireland and years of traveling across Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. The result is warm and intentional. It feels like the kind of place you might want to dress up for.

The menu is doing something you don't see often in Boca: a single kitchen serving lamb lollipops, Peruvian lomo saltado, avocado fruffle crispy rice, and chicken schnitzel side by side. Executive Chef Zoltan Kovacs is leading the kitchen, and the menu pulls from North Africa, the Mediterranean, Latin America, and Europe. The idea seems to be that good cooking doesn't need to pick one lane, and on paper it comes together more naturally than you might expect.

What to Try First

The lamb lollipops are one of the dishes getting attention ahead of opening, so they're a good place to start. The avocado fruffle crispy rice looks like another worth ordering. The lomo saltado is a Peruvian stir-fry, and the tuna tartare and chicken schnitzel round out a menu with real range. If you're not sure where to begin, the lamb and the crispy rice are an easy first pair.

The Insider Move

The grand opening is Saturday, June 6. If you like getting to a place early, this is a good window - Nomade seats 250 people, and the first few weeks of a new opening tend to be the easiest time to get a table. Why It's Worth a Look

Nomade is expanding from its original location in Westport, Connecticut, and the Boca spot, at 250 seats, is quite a bit larger. The Instagram account (@nomadebocaraton) has been building some interest ahead of opening, with early attention on the room design and the lamb. A globally inspired menu like this one isn't something Boca sees every day, so it's worth keeping an eye on as it finds its footing this summer.
