ISSUE NO. 021
SUNDAY JULY 26 - SATURDAY AUGUST 1, 2026

Happy Sunday, 561.

A nonprofit cat cafe on N Dixie in West Palm is pouring espresso to fund its rescue cats, a Broward coffee brand just crossed the county line into Boynton, and Boca has a free hands on science center tucked inside Sugar Sand Park. One heads up before you read on: Pig-Sty BBQ in Boynton is serving its final meal today, Sunday, July 26, so if you want the brisket, today is the day.

Cat Cafe · West Palm Beach

Coffee Up Front, Cat Heaven in the Back

2032 N Dixie Hwy, West Palm Beach · Mon-Sat 10:30am-6pm, closed Sunday

Nine Lives Cafe is a nonprofit coffee shop on N Dixie Hwy in West Palm Beach, and the coffee and pastries up front help fund the rescue cats in the Cat Heaven room in back. Every cat in that room is adoption ready. They also run Paw-lates, which is exactly what it sounds like: a 60 minute mat Pilates class taken on the floor of the cat room while the cats wander through, plus therapeutic cat yoga sessions. Cat Heaven runs on reserved visits, so book online before you go, and note the doors close at 6 and they are closed Sundays.

Your Weekend, Morning to Night

4 Picks · East Boca to West Palm

Lead pick: if you live in Palm Beach County, you get into the Norton Museum of Art free every Saturday through September 5, ID at reception, on an $18 general admission. Doors are 10 to 5 and final tickets stop selling thirty minutes before close, so do not roll up at 4:45. Build the day around it: coffee at Third Place Coffee Lounge on NE Spanish River in East Boca, which opens at 7 every morning, then the Michelin Bib Gourmand wagyu counter at Palm Beach Meats two miles up S Dixie, which closes at 7 Saturday and 5 Sunday, so treat it as a lunch plan. Then back down to the Norton, sculpture garden included. Saturday, August 1 also brings The Wonderful Wizard of Oz to the Willow Theatre in Sugar Sand Park at 11 and 1.

A 1920s-Style Omakase Counter Is Hiding in Royal Palm Place

409 SE Mizner Blvd, Boca Raton · Mon-Thu 5-11:15pm, Fri-Sat 5pm-12:30am, Sun 5-10pm

Sushi by Bou runs a 12 course Edomae omakase at a 12 seat counter inside a Prohibition styled room at Royal Palm Place, and the Signature runs $65. Go bigger with the 17 course Bougie at $125, or the Bou Reserve, which layers premium add ons on top of those same 17 courses. Watch their events page too, because every so often they break down a whole bluefin live at the counter and those nights fill up fast. Twelve seats and timed seatings means you reserve before you drive over, every time.

706 W Boynton Beach Blvd, Boynton Beach. The family run BBQ spot announced on July 7 that it is closing for good, pointing to the cost of doing business in South Florida and calling the Boynton road and parking lot construction the final straw. Final service is today, Sunday, July 26.
Sixty Vines at Boca Center
5050 Town Center Cir, Suite 239, Boca Raton. Sixty wines on a sustainable tap system and a wine country menu built for sharing, in the Shops at Boca Center between Total Wine and Morton's. Lunch Monday to Friday, dinner nightly, brunch on weekends.
Piacere Wood Fired Pizza is open on Yamato
222 W Yamato Rd, Suite 108, Boca Raton, in Yamato Crossing. The South Florida wood fired pizzeria opened its Boca shop in June, running Neapolitan style pies on a scratch made sourdough crust, plus house made gelato.
