If you live in Palm Beach County, you can walk into the Norton Museum of Art this Saturday and pay nothing. Not a discount, not a members-only thing. You show an ID at reception and you are in, and it runs every Saturday through September 5. General admission is $18, so that is real money you are leaving on the table if you have been driving past. Saturday is also opening day for a new show, which makes this the weekend to finally use it.

The Weekend, Start To Finish

☕ Start in East Boca. Third Place Coffee Lounge at 325 NE Spanish River Blvd is a locally owned room built for lingering, with board games, a book shelf, free wifi and enough outlets that nobody gives you a look for staying two hours. The cortado is $4.25, a 12-ounce latte is $5.25, and the Strawberry OG smoothie is $11 if you want breakfast in a cup. Look at the seasonal board too, where the Honey Lavender Latte and the Yuzu Honey Cold Brew Lemonade are currently sitting. Doors open at 7 every morning.

Palm Beach Meats at 4812 S Dixie Hwy is Florida's only all-wagyu meat market with an all-wagyu kitchen attached, and one of only two Bib Gourmand spots in Palm Beach County. The Michelin write-up called out the wagyu Philly cheesesteak, loaded with truffle aioli, and the PBM burger, where the beef somehow still outshines the cheddar and the house chips. The burger lands in the low twenties. If you are celebrating something, there is a four-ounce Japanese A5 that runs north of $100 and is meant to be shared. They close at 7 on Saturday and 5 on Sunday, so this is a lunch plan, not a dinner plan.

🎨 Walk it off at the Norton. Two miles back down the same road at 1450 S Dixie Hwy, Saturday is opening day for "Ralph Coburn: Land, Sea, Sky," a show of grid-based abstractions by a painter who spent sixty years almost entirely unseen. He let people rearrange his paperboard collages, which is a strange and generous thing for an artist to do. Open 10 to 5, hanging through January 3, and the sculpture garden with the Keith Haring and the Jenny Holzer is included.

🎸 And Friday night is free. The Boston and Foreigner tribute plays the amphitheatre at Old School Square, 51 N Swinton Ave in Delray. Gates at 5, opening act at 6, headliner from 7:30 to 9:30. There is a kids' play area, a bar for the adults, and food vendors. Admission is free and general admission means you bring your own lawn chair.

Sequence it right and this whole weekend costs about the price of one sandwich. Friday night is Delray, free, so get there closer to 5 than 7 if you want a decent patch of grass. Saturday runs Boca coffee, then north to Palm Beach Meats for lunch, then two miles back down Dixie to the Norton with your ID in your pocket. Park across the street from the museum at 1501 S Dixie, $3 an hour with a three-hour cap, paid through ParkMobile. Final admission tickets stop selling thirty minutes before the museum closes, so do not roll up at 4:45.
