ISSUE NO. 016 · SUNDAY JUNE 21 - SATURDAY JUNE 27, 2026

Happy Sunday, Boca. Happy Father's Day.

First real summer week is here, which means short waits and open parking everywhere you go. The Island SPACE Mango Festival runs today in Pembroke Pines with a Daddy Mango Eating Contest and a Father's Day photo throne for dads. This week we build a half-day around Kyu in Wynwood, sit down for the seared scallops at MIA Kitchen in Delray, and check out the new self-serve 16 Handles that opened in West Boca. Friday night, The Long Run plays the Eagles catalog for free at Mizner Park, and Saturday the kids ride the 986-foot lazy river at Coconut Cove. Your whole week is planned.

Love The 561 Scoop? Share it. Beach Pack at 10 referrals, the 561 Tee at 20, and a Crewneck at 50. Details below.

Build a Wynwood Day Around the Wood-Fired Grill 50 Minutes South

251 NW 25th St, Miami · Mon-Sat 12-11pm, Sun 11am-10:30pm · Small plates from ~$17

Kyu cooks over a custom wood-fired grill in Wynwood, 45 miles and about 50 minutes down I-95 from Boca. The wood-grilled beef short rib comes with a sesame crust and a sweet soy glaze. The roasted cauliflower gets goat cheese and a shishito-herb vinaigrette, and the Korean fried chicken and crispy rice both earn the trip. It is listed in the MICHELIN Guide. Small plates start around $17, and the wood-grilled mains climb from there, with the short rib as the splurge. Make a day of it: park once, walk the 80,000-square-foot Wynwood Walls street-art museum two blocks away, grab a flight at Wynwood Brewing Co, then sit down for dinner. Go all in and the check adds up fast, so come hungry and plan to share.
