ISSUE NO. 019
SUNDAY JULY 12 - SATURDAY JULY 18, 2026

Happy Sunday, 561.

It is the middle of a 561 July, when the smart move is to plan around the heat, not fight it. This week that means a downtown Boca pizza counter cooking without a drop of seed oil, a James Beard sleeper in Lake Worth Beach, an infrared yoga room that turns the temperature into the point, a Mizner Park popsicle case with 46 flavors built for exactly this weather, and enough free waterfront concerts to fill every night through Sunday.

Love The 561 Scoop? Share it. Every friend you send our way moves you up the rewards ladder, from an Instagram shoutout at 5 referrals to a 561 Beach Pack at 10. Your link is at the bottom.

The New Boca Pizza Counter Cooking Without a Drop of Seed Oil

897 E Palmetto Park Rd · Tue-Sun 11am-10pm · Slices + whole pies

Peter's is the seed-oil-free pizzeria from Long Island brothers Peter and Bobby, and it kept the thing people drive for at its downtown Boca corner: a kitchen with zero canola, soybean, or vegetable oil. Order the Grandma square, a thin-crust pan pie, or one of the hand-tossed New York pies like the Vodka Eggplant, all a five-minute walk from Mizner Park. It is closed Mondays, so make it a Tuesday-through-Sunday plan.

This Week's Highlights

Worth the Drive · West Palm Beach

The Taco-and-Oyster Bar Anchoring West Palm's NORA District

840 N Railroad Ave · Happy Hour Mon-Fri 4-6pm · Brunch Sat-Sun 11am-3pm

Loco brought its Boston playbook south: tortillas pressed in house, short-rib birria tacos, a raw bar, and margaritas that keep the room loud past midnight. Come for the weekday happy hour or the weekend brunch, both about 35 minutes up I-95. This is the anchor that makes the trip to West Palm's newest neighborhood worth it.

Date Night · Lake Worth Beach

A James Beard Semifinalist Hiding on Lucerne Ave

512 Lucerne Ave · Tue-Sun from 5:30pm · Shared plates

Oceano cooks coastal-American plates meant to be passed around, sourced from Florida growers and boats, in a small, intimate room with an open kitchen and a back garden. It earned its chef a 2023 James Beard Award semifinal nod without most of Boca noticing, which is exactly why you go now, before the reservation gets hard. About 25 minutes north, and closed Mondays.

The Infrared Studio That Makes July Heat the Point

141 NW 20th St · New students: 2 weeks unlimited $55

Gro runs three signature classes out of the Shoppes at University Park: a heated vinyasa in an infrared room, a strength flow, and a sound-healing restorative that winds down on the floor. New students get two weeks unlimited for $55, the honest way to find out if 90-degree yoga in July is your thing. On July 19 they are also teaming up with Vuori at Town Center for an in-store community flow; check Gro's events page for the time and details.

Family-Run · Deerfield Beach

The Deerfield Cafe Importing Its Desserts From the Amalfi Coast

505 S Federal Hwy · Mon-Sat 8am-4pm · Heroes $15-$17

Anthony and Nick opened StrEATart in 2024 as a shortcut to Italy, and they meant it literally: the cakes and pastries come in from the Amalfi Coast. On the savory side it is street-food heroes like the Fuhgetaboutit, a cold Italian stacked with prosciutto, salami, capocollo, mortadella, and stracciatella, the one to beat at $16.99. Fifteen minutes south, breakfast starts at $3.99, and they are closed Sundays.

The Mizner Park Popsicle Case With 46 Flavors on Rotation

430 Plaza Real, Mizner Park · Daily from Noon, to Midnight Fri-Sat · Dipped, Topped, Gold-Boxed

Cielito hand-makes small-batch paletas with real fruit and no preservatives, and the case holds more than 46 flavors on a menu that rotates with the seasons, tamarind and hibiscus flower sitting next to fresh watermelon and key lime pie. Get one dipped in chocolate, grab a dog-friendly pop for the pup, and cool off after dinner, since the case runs to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. It is hiding in plain sight in Mizner Park, with free covered garage parking, which is the whole game in July.

Manatee Lagoon, West Palm Beach
A free, air-conditioned eco-center on the Lake Worth Lagoon, open Tuesday to Sunday, 9 to 4. Manatees are a winter thing, but two floors of exhibits and a shaded picnic deck make it a real beat-the-heat morning with kids. Thirty minutes north, and parking is free too.
Emelina, West Palm Beach
A sixteen-seat Cuban chef's counter in Flamingo Park that earned a Michelin Star, the first Cuban restaurant in the world to do so and the only one in Palm Beach County. PopUp Bagels, West Palm Beach
