The Wick Theatre is doing The Cher Show through May 31, and if you haven't gone yet, this week is realistically your best window. Seven performances between Tuesday and Saturday, including both matinee and evening options. After this week the run starts winding down.

What Is The Cher Show?

The Cher Show is the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical about Cher's life - from her early days with Sonny Bono through her decades-long solo career and reinventions. What makes the show distinctive is the structure: three different actresses play Cher at different stages of her life, all sharing the stage and sometimes talking to each other. It's a format that sounds gimmicky on paper and works beautifully in practice.

The songs hit the full catalog - "I Got You Babe," "If I Could Turn Back Time," "Believe" - the ones you know all the words to whether you've admitted it to yourself or not.

Why The Wick

The Wick Theatre on Yamato Road in Boca is an intimate venue - smaller than most people expect, and that's the selling point. You're close to the stage. The production design is visible. There genuinely isn't a bad seat in the house, which is a claim a lot of venues make and The Wick actually delivers on.

The Wick does full Broadway productions with professional casts, not community theater. If you've never been, The Cher Show is a good introduction.

Who to Take

This is a great show for: your mom (Mother's Day is May 10, the show runs through the 31st), anyone in your life who unironically loves Cher, a date night that's more interesting than dinner and a movie, or a group of friends who want something different on a Saturday.
