Saturday lunch this weekend comes with a pharmacy attached. On North County Road in Palm Beach, an old-fashioned 82-seat luncheonette shares one roof with a working pharmacy, so you can order a Reuben and a malted shake, then walk out with candy buttons, Necco wafers and the morning paper.

It's the middle stop in a weekend that starts tonight in a Boca courtyard, picks up Saturday morning in a West Palm Beach alley, and ends with a smooth-jazz saxophonist playing two shows in Royal Palm Place. Four stops, three cities, October 2 through 4. Here's the whole plan, in the order you'll use it.

What You're Getting Into

Friday night from 5 to 10 PM, local makers set up the Friday Artisan Market in the courtyard between Rocco's Tacos and Tap 42 at the Shops at Boca Center, 5150 Town Center Circle, off Military Trail just north of Palmetto Park Road. Browse the stalls first, then pick whichever side of the courtyard you want dinner from. The market is on Boca Center's calendar most Fridays through December 18, but tonight is the one that fits this plan.

Saturday morning starts at Composition Coffee House, 2606 Florida Ave in West Palm Beach's Industry Alley. The coffee is single-origin, and the menu runs from AeroPress, cortados and flat whites to matcha, chai and houjicha, with coffee and tea on tap. Doors open at 8:30 on Saturday and close at 5, and the shop is closed Sunday, so Saturday is your only weekend shot. Price check: $.

For lunch, head over the bridge to Green's Pharmacy at 151 N County Rd in Palm Beach. The luncheonette menu reads like a classic lunch counter: Reubens, patty melts, tuna melts, club sandwiches and burgers, with malted shakes, ice cream sodas and egg creams on the drink side. The store side stocks everything from sundries to old-school candy and the day's newspapers. The luncheonette runs 7 AM to 3 PM on Saturday. Price check: $$.

Saturday night belongs to Kim Waters at The Funky Biscuit, 303 SE Mizner Blvd in Royal Palm Place. The smooth-jazz saxophonist plays alto and soprano and mixes jazz with R&B, blues and pop, and he's doing two shows: 6 PM with doors at 5, and 9 PM with doors at 8. Tickets run $50 to $65. The Biscuit has its own Southern-style kitchen and a full bar, so dinner and the show can happen at the same table. It's 21 and up unless you're with a parent or guardian.

The Insider Move

Reserved seats at the Biscuit come with a food-and-drink minimum, which is the best argument for the 6 PM show: order dinner from the kitchen and the minimum takes care of itself. If you'd rather eat somewhere else first, take the 9. Either way, check in on time, because reserved seats are released an hour after showtime and unclaimed tickets turn into general admission.

At Composition, the clock to watch is 11 AM. That's when the brewed coffee stops pouring for the day, and after that it's espresso drinks, AeroPress, coffee on tap or tea. If you're a drip-coffee person, make it your first stop of the day.

On Tripadvisor, one reviewer who has lived in South Florida for decades admitted they only recently found the Funky Biscuit and couldn't believe what they'd been missing, adding that the small room puts you right up with the performers. Another laid out the seating: bar seats and high-tops, lower tables in front of the stage, and a front bar with a big screen for anyone who wants to watch from there.

Fan reviews of Kim Waters' shows on Ticketmaster and Songkick keep landing on the same things: date nights, a Valentine's Day, and a player who works the crowd and brings some comedy along with the smooth stuff.

At Composition, reviewers on Restaurantji single out the matcha and a blueberry muffin that isn't too sweet. One Tripadvisor visitor described upstairs loft seating, little wooden mushroom tables downstairs, and a Saturday morning rush busy enough that it's worth waiting at the counter for your order.
