Four stops, morning to night, across Boca, Boynton, and Delray. This is Saturday in the 561 sorted end to end, from the first cup of coffee to a blues trio at 8. Every pick below is verified, with the addresses, prices, and hours you need to actually go.

Save this one. Two of these four have hours that will burn you if you show up on the wrong day. Here is the plan.

Breakfast: Cafe Aroma, Boca

Sixty years of selling espresso in grocery aisles, and the first real cafe is eight seats in Town Center. The whole room is 440 square feet, with a red Spanish espresso machine on the counter and Vicky Bakery pastries in the case, so the move is to order and take it outside. A cappuccino is $5.85, a cafe cubano $3.75, a beef empanada $4.25, a guava pastelito $2.25, and the Cuban sandwich $13.50. They open at 7:30AM and close at 3PM every day, which makes this a morning stop and nothing else.

Lunch: Antonacci Artisan Pizza Cafe, Boynton

Twenty regions of Italy, twenty different pizzas, one wood oven the family shipped over from home. The Campania with buffalo mozzarella and basil is $24. The Piemonte with burrata, Italian ham, fig jam, and hot honey is $29. The Sardegna comes topped with grilled octopus for $33, which you are not finding anywhere else on Congress Ave. One catch worth knowing before you drive: they open at 11:45AM Thursday through Saturday, but on Sunday the doors don't open until 3PM. If lunch is the plan, go Saturday.

Afternoon: Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens, Delray

Ninety Japanese ghosts are hanging in Delray, and they come down August 30. The current show is an exhibition of yokai, the shape-shifting spirits and monsters of Japanese folklore, in 90 woodblock prints and printed books spanning more than 250 years, on loan from the Scripps College collection. Outside there is Roji-en, six distinct Japanese gardens and a bonsai collection you can walk in a single loop. The August strategy: do the galleries first while the afternoon is at its worst, then take the gardens closer to 4PM when the light drops and the heat breaks. Admission is $18 for adults, $16 for seniors 65 and up, $14 for students with ID, $12 for kids 6 to 17, and free for anyone 5 and under. Open Tuesday through Sunday, 10AM to 5PM, closed Mondays. One note: the historic Yamato-kan building is closed for the summer heat, though the main museum, the exhibitions, and the gardens are all open.

Night: Shaw Davis & the Black Ties at the Funky Biscuit, Boca

Saturday, August 8, Shaw Davis & the Black Ties are live at the Funky Biscuit at 8PM. They are a Pompano blues rock trio that got their start in this exact room, and they represented South Florida at the 2018 International Blues Challenge in Memphis. The club sits inside Royal Palm Place and it is small enough that there is no bad spot, but the plaza parking gets tight on a Saturday night, so come early and eat there. Tickets are worth grabbing ahead on the venue's site.

That is a full Saturday across three cities with one reservation-free morning, one lunch you have to time right, and two paid stops. If you are going Sunday instead: Cafe Aroma and Morikami both keep the same hours, Antonacci becomes dinner instead of lunch, and the show does not repeat.

Why These Four

The Morikami exhibit has a hard end date of August 30, so this is one of the last few weekends to catch it. Antonacci built a menu that assigns a pizza to each of Italy's twenty regions and bakes it on sourdough in an imported wood oven, which is a genuinely uncommon setup for South Florida. Cafe Aroma is a sixty-year-old Cuban espresso brand's first brick-and-mortar location. And the Funky Biscuit is the room Shaw Davis has called his favorite club to play anywhere, which is not a bad endorsement for a Saturday night.
