Behind an office-building facade on Rogers Circle, a brewery has been quietly making some of the most traditional Belgian-style beer in South Florida since 2015. Barrel of Monks opened as the first production brewery in Boca Raton, and plenty of people drive past it every week without knowing it’s there. That is exactly what makes it the move for Father’s Day weekend.

This is not a hazy-IPA-chasing taproom. The monks-and-abbey theme is a nod to the Belgian tradition the brewery genuinely commits to: blondes, tripels, and bigger abbey-style ales done the old way.

What You’re Getting Into

The core lineup leans Belgian. Their flagship Three Fates is a golden tripel with pear, clove, and a dry, honeyed finish, and you will also find the guava-kissed Single in Havana blonde and the bright, orange-peel-and-coriander Wizard witbier. There are bigger abbey-style strong ales and rotating small-batch pours for people who want to go deeper. If you are new to the style, ask for a flight and let the bartender walk you from lightest to strongest, because these beers carry more alcohol than they taste like, so pace yourself.

The space itself is a big, casual taproom with exposed brick, chandeliers, and indoor and outdoor seating, plus the Cheffrey Eats food truck parked right outside the door, so you can settle in for an afternoon instead of just a quick pint. Cheffrey Eats runs full-time (you might recognize it from Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives) and is known for burgers, wings, tacos, and truffle fries. The taproom is kid-friendly and dog-friendly with live music and weekly specials, which is why it works as a low-pressure family hang and not just a beer destination.

The Insider Move

Saturday is the day. It opens at noon and runs to 11pm, the longest window of the week. Get there in the early afternoon before the evening crowd, grab a flight, and order a plate from Cheffrey Eats. It is a far better Father’s Day weekend plan than fighting for a brunch table, and Dad gets a real beer instead of a bottomless mimosa. Sunday hours are shorter, noon to 7pm, so Saturday gives you more room. Time it midweek instead and you can also catch Wing Night Wednesday or Taco Thursday.
