Somewhere off SW 18th St in west Boca, babies who can't walk yet are bouncing on a trampoline, crawling through a cargo net, and lifting baby kettlebells. Their grown-up is right there the whole time, but still. That's Baby Movers, the youngest program at The Rec Room, a new kids gym for ages 6 months to 18.

Enrollment is open now, and the founding rates only go to the first 150 members. If you have a kid who burns through recess and still comes home bouncing off the walls, keep reading.

What It's Actually Like

Start with the babies, because this is the part that surprises people. Baby Movers isn't a class where everyone sits in a circle. It's a rolling circuit with four stations, three featured per session, 15 minutes at each, and you're done in 45 minutes. A coach leads one station with structured activities, and you guide your little one through the other two with help available whenever you want it.

The stations are the fun part. One has a trampoline, a low balance beam, and a gymnastics bar to hang from. Another has a climbing wall, a cargo net, and a ball pit. The strength station rotates stability balls, wedge mats, and those baby kettlebells. The fourth is outside on the patio, with water tables, kinetic sand, and paint-and-stamp art. The lineup changes every visit, so it never turns into the same 45 minutes twice. If your baby is on the young end, the coach scales it down to tummy time, sensory play, and gentle movement.

Little Movers is the next step up for toddlers. It's a coach-led class with a set start time where little ones crawl, balance, jump, and play coordination games while learning to listen to a coach and take turns, with their grown-up right alongside them.

From age 5, things get serious in a good way. Rising Athletes (5 to 13) and Performance (14 to 17) run on weekly sessions The Rec Room calls Builds, organized into five stages built around biomechanics. Instead of drilling one sport, coaches work on joint mechanics, movement patterns, and body control, so speed and strength carry into whatever your kid plays. The stages overlap on purpose, which means kids train where they actually are, not just where their birthday puts them.

There are also private birthday parties, where coaches run the whole group through an organized class and handle the setup and cleanup. For older kids, there's private, semi-private, and small group training for ages 8 to 18, which they keep to a small number of athletes each season.

The Insider Move

Baby Movers is drop-in. You can walk in at any 15-minute mark during a session window and still get your full three stations, which makes it the rare baby activity that works around naps instead of the other way around. Check the session windows on their sign-up page before you head over.

Dress for the floor, because you'll be on it. They ask for comfortable clothes for you and socks or bare feet for baby, and there's a changing area on site. If your kid is between age groups, ask the coaches to place them by how they move, since that's how the stages are designed anyway. And if you're leaning toward joining, do it sooner rather than later, because founding pricing goes up as each enrollment stage fills.

Who's Behind It

The Rec Room comes from Ty and Amanda Stone, who started it after watching their son Ace's nonstop energy on the soccer field. Ty, the head athletics coach, has a B.S. in Exercise Science from the University of Delaware and more than a decade in performance training. Amanda, the wellness director, is a lifelong dancer who built her own Pilates studio in South Beach.

Good to Know

Kids 5 and up join through monthly memberships, while ages 4 and under use class packs, so there's no monthly commitment for the baby and toddler crowd. Weekdays run until 7 PM and weekends wrap at 2 PM, so plan Saturday visits for the morning.
