The 561 Scoop - Weekly Guide to Palm Beach County
ISSUE NO. 034
SUNDAY OCTOBER 25 - SATURDAY OCTOBER 31, 2026

Happy Sunday, 561.

This week has a 37-acre island you can only reach by boat, a Boca playground ranked No. 9 in the country, a free pumpkin dive in a Boca pool this afternoon, and the last weekend of the Bedner's Fall Festival in Boynton. Halloween lands on Saturday, so the calendar below is full. It's a good week to be in the 561.

This Week's Highlights

Saturday Pick · Riviera Beach

The Only Way Onto This 37-Acre Island Is by Boat

Peanut Island Park · 6500 Peanut Island Road, Riviera Beach

Peanut Island sits in the Intracoastal next to the Lake Worth Inlet, and there is no bridge. No boat? Two independent water taxis make the run: Peanut Island Shuttle Boat (561-777-0438) and Palm Beach Water Taxi (561-683-8294). Once you land, the county park gives you swimming beaches and a snorkeling lagoon, open sunrise to sunset. The swim area is unguarded during the week, so plan a Saturday. Halloween is Saturday this year: do the island in the morning, the costumes at night.

Trivia Answer

John F. Kennedy. The bunker went in during the early 1960s as an emergency refuge near the President's Palm Beach home. It's closed until further notice, and Palm Beach County has asked the state for money to restore it as a museum.

That's the scoop for Issue No. 034.
Have a great week, 561.
