The 561 Scoop - Weekly Guide to Palm Beach County
ISSUE NO. 028
SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 13 - SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 20, 2026

Happy Sunday, 561.

This week's issue is stacked: the whiskey wall everyone in west Delray keeps quiet about, the pizza counter that just swept South Florida's wing competition, a deli sandwich that needs both hands, and the peanut butter cups worth the drive up Clint Moore.

The Whiskey Wall Hiding in a West Delray Plaza

Warren American Whiskey Kitchen - West Delray Beach

Warren stocks over 900 bottles behind the bar on Lyons Rd, north of Atlantic. Chilled Magazine called it South Florida's largest whiskey library, and Whisky Advocate named it one of America's top 125 whiskey bars in 2025. Start with Gloria's Korean fried chicken, then tell your server what you already drink and let them build you a flight around one style.

Award Winner

The Delray Pizza Shop That Won South Florida's Wing Title

Windy City Pizza - 401 W Atlantic Ave, Ste R-11, Delray Beach

Windy City Pizza swept both First Place and the People's Choice Award at the 4th Annual South Florida Wing Bash on July 11 at South County Regional Park in Boca. One is a blind panel score, the other is an attendee vote, so the judges and the crowd landed in the same place. The Chicago tavern-style thin crust, square-cut with cheese to the edge, is the other reason to go. Open Tuesday to Sunday, 11:30am to 9:30pm, closed Mondays.

The Deli Sandwich That Needs Both Hands

3 G's Gourmet Deli - 5869 W Atlantic Ave, Delray Beach

Order the Any 4 Meat Combination Sandwich and you'll have to plan your grip around it. Pick any four from corned beef, pastrami, brisket, roast beef, turkey, or Hebrew National salami or bologna, and it lands on rye with slaw or potato salad and a pickle. Tongue costs a little extra and the regulars order it anyway. Open daily 9am to 8pm, but note: they close at 3pm on Sunday Sept 20 for Yom Kippur and are closed all day Monday Sept 21. Holiday takeout orders are due Wednesday Sept 16.

Sweet Tooth

The Boca Chocolate Shop Where Everything Costs the Same

Mindy's Munchies - 2901 Clint Moore Rd, Boca Raton

Here's the thing nobody tells you before you walk in: every one of the 28 items in the by-the-pound case is priced identically. Peanut butter cups, sea salt caramels, pecan turtles, the peanut butter and fluff cups, it costs the same whichever one you point at. Which means a quarter pound is your cheapest way to try anything you were curious about, and you can stop agonizing over the case. Open Mon-Sat 10am-6pm, Sun 11am-4pm.

A New Italian Sandwich Shop Just Landed in Boynton

Monica's Italian Sandwiches - 630 E Woolbright Rd, Ste G, Boynton Beach

Every sandwich here is built on focaccia, and the reviews keep landing on the same word for it: chewy. The Turkey is the one they sell most and the Mortadella is right behind it, and one reviewer who drove up after seeing it on Instagram said that mortadella took him straight back to Italy. They're in Riverwalk Plaza off Woolbright, open Monday to Saturday 11am to 6pm and closed Sunday, so plan it as a lunch stop rather than dinner.
