Set lunches from $25. Set dinners from $35. Rooms you keep talking yourself out of, suddenly holding one fixed-price menu for thirty straight days. Starting Tuesday, September 1, 112 restaurants from Boca up to Port St. Lucie put up set-price menus, and the whole list is already public.

It's called Flavor South Florida, it runs September 1 through 30, and it's the one month a year the dining rooms you keep circling meet you halfway.

Who's In Around Boca

The Boca list alone is worth the swipe through the guide: Tryst, Boca Brasserie, Lynora's, AlleyCat Izakaya, Red Pine, Anyday, Seasons 52 and True Food Kitchen are all in this year, and Sushi by Bou is running a Flavor menu too. Several of them are first-timers - the program's own list of newcomers runs 40 deep this year.

Each restaurant publishes its full set-price menu in advance in the guide at flavorsouthflorida.com, so you can read exactly what three courses you're getting - and what they cost - before you book. Set lunches start at $25 and set dinners at $35 across the program.

And if you're willing to drive twenty minutes, Delray is stacked this year too: CAMPI, Lulu's, Barcelona Wine Bar, Gabriella's Modern Italian and Geronimo Tequila Bar are all on the list.

The Insider Move

When you sit down, they hand you the regular menu too, and at some places they won't bring the Flavor menu unless you ask. Say it out loud when you're seated. People pay full price every September because they didn't.

Second, book week one. The menus run all thirty days, but the smaller rooms only have so many 7 pm tables, and the cheapest set menus go first. Third, read the actual menu before you reserve - every one of them is posted on the site, so the value never has to be a surprise.

The honest way to play the month is as a sampler. Pick one splurge room you've been circling all year, one neighborhood place you drive past constantly and have never walked into, and one that just sounds strange enough to be worth a $35 dinner.
