A month ago, Tom Rhodemyre sold the last brisket and spare ribs Pig-Sty BBQ was ever going to sell on Boynton Beach Boulevard. The room was packed with people who had driven over to say goodbye. Then he cleared his throat and told them they were not done yet.

Today is what he meant. Pig-Sty reopens at 4pm inside The Bungalow Bar & Grill at 511 NE 4th St, about two miles east of the old place and one block west of US 1. Same owners, same smoker, same crew of four. What is different is the room, and the room is a Key West style hideaway near the Intracoastal with a stage in it.

What You're Walking Into

Start with what survived, because that is what people were actually mourning. The brisket is back. So are the spare ribs, the wings, and the sandwiches that built the place. Rhodemyre and his crew brought their own smoker and their own kitchen equipment into The Bungalow, so this is not a licensing deal or a ghost kitchen wearing the name. It is the same four people cooking the same meat, in a building with better bones.

Then there is the part that is genuinely new. Being a block off the water finally shows up on the menu. There is a smoked fish dip now, half mahi-mahi and half kingfish, and a blackened mahi-mahi sandwich that did not exist at the old spot. For a place that spent years defined entirely by pork and beef, putting fish on the board is a real shift, and it fits the room.

What is going away: the big platters. Rhodemyre is cutting them and pushing the menu toward handheld and basket-friendly food instead. That is a bar menu decision and an honest one, because you are eating this with a drink in front of a band now, not at a folding table under fluorescent light. Order accordingly. Expect sandwiches and baskets to carry the menu and expect the ribs to still be the thing you fight over.

The other piece nobody is talking about yet: the crew is also running a food truck out back, parked by the Florida East Coast railroad tracks behind the restaurant. Same barbecue, second window, no stage required.

The Room Is the Upgrade

The old Pig-Sty was a strip center spot at 706 W Boynton Beach Blvd where you ordered at a counter, paid, and found a seat. Perfectly good. Also the reason the place nearly ended, because when construction tore up the plaza parking in late 2025 and stayed torn up, the customers stopped coming and the math stopped working.

The Bungalow solves that in a way a new strip center never would have. It is an outdoor-leaning bar and grill with a stage, TVs, games, and free parking, and it sits at 4.7 stars across roughly 250 reviews on the strength of its live music and its bartenders. Regulars there talk about rotating bands and happy hour before they talk about the food, which is exactly the gap Pig-Sty is filling. The Bungalow gets a kitchen worth showing up for. Pig-Sty gets a stage and a liquor license, two things it never had in fifteen years.

That is the actual change to plan around. This is not a counter-service pit stop anymore. It is barbecue with a bar and a band attached, which means it works for a Friday night now in a way the old place never did.

The Insider Move

Show up right at 4pm today. Not because of a line, but because The Bungalow runs happy hour daily from 4 to 7pm with $3 bottled beers, $5 wells, and $8 margaritas, mojitos and martinis. Doors open at 4 on Wednesdays, so opening day and happy hour are the same three hours. Brisket and a $5 well on day one is the whole play.

If you cannot get there early, Fridays and Saturdays have a late-night happy hour from 10pm to midnight, and those are the nights the kitchen runs until close at 12am.

One caution worth thirty seconds: 4pm is The Bungalow's posted Wednesday open, and Pig-Sty has not published its own kitchen hours for the new address. Call (561) 934-3553 before you drive over, especially on a day one. And do not put the old address in your phone. 706 W Boynton Beach Blvd is closed for good.

Why This One Landed

Restaurants close in Palm Beach County every month and almost none of them get a sendoff like the one Pig-Sty got in July. People filled the room on the last day. When Rhodemyre announced from the floor that a deal with The Bungalow was signed, the place went up.

The deal itself is why it worked: no rent, no insurance, their own equipment, and a split of revenue with the venue. The Bungalow's side wanted help with its food and said so plainly. Both places were in trouble and the fix was each other. That is a better ending than most Boynton closures get, and it is the reason your feed is going to be full of this today.
