Starting June 7, Palm Beach Zoo is running one of the best summer deals in South Florida: four kids ages 3 to 12 get in free with every paid adult admission. The deal runs through August 10 - covering the full stretch of summer break - across 23 lush tropical acres and more than 500 animals. At the standard adult rate of around $28.95, a family of two adults and four kids gets in for under $60. That is the kind of math that makes a Tuesday in June feel very productive.

And this summer, there is more to see than ever. The zoo just welcomed its first-ever koala joey, born to parents Elin and Sydney. The capybara couple Zeus and Iyari also welcomed babies Apollo, Artemis, and Aries earlier this year. On top of that, the Fountain Plaza Splash Pad was recently reimagined and is ready for its busiest season yet.

What You're Getting Into

Palm Beach Zoo houses more than 500 animals from over 190 species across 23 acres in West Palm Beach. The layout is dense but walkable - you move through Florida wetlands, past the Tropics of the Americas section with its massive Mayan pyramid replicas, through big cat and primate habitats, and into the Australian and Asian animal areas. The zoo is known for naturalistic enclosures that feel spacious rather than institutional, which changes how the animals behave and how the whole visit feels.

For kids, the Tropics of the Americas section is the anchor. Close-up viewing windows, interactive elements, and smaller animals at eye level hold attention better than anything else on the property. The Wildlife Carousel runs $3 per ride and the Fountain Plaza Splash Pad is included with admission - essential information in June. Budget two to three hours for a full loop with kids; adults moving quickly can cover the highlights in about 90 minutes.

The full-service restaurant is Latitude 26, an air-conditioned spot on the shore of Baker Lake right in the heart of the zoo. It serves salads, burgers, sandwiches, and kids meals, and it is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. There is also a concessions stand with soft serve, churros, fries, and cold drinks - including Dippin' Dots near the fountain. Outside bottled water is permitted; coolers are not.

The Insider Move

Go early. The zoo opens at 9 a.m. and the first two hours are the best - cooler temperatures, more active animals, and shorter lines at the popular exhibits and animal experiences. On hot summer days, the shaded wetlands path along the back half of the zoo runs noticeably cooler than the open front half, so pace yourself and head there once the sun is fully up. Summer weekend crowds pick up fast after 11 a.m., so a weekday morning is the cleanest visit by a wide margin. One more tip: pack the kids' swimsuits. The Fountain Plaza Splash Pad is a lifesaver when the heat kicks in, and there are changing huts nearby. The Kids Free deal applies to paid adult admissions only - members should check their specific membership tier to confirm how the benefit applies. Parking is always free in the zoo lot.

What People Are Saying

Palm Beach Zoo is Palm Beach County's top-rated zoological experience and visitors consistently note the clean, well-maintained grounds and the quality of the naturalistic animal habitats. Reviewers frequently point out that the shaded pathways make the heat manageable in a way that a lot of outdoor attractions in South Florida simply don't. For a summer activity that costs less than dinner out for the whole family, the verdict is clear - it is one of the best value days in the 561 right now.
