Two in the morning on a Saturday, on Okeechobee Boulevard, and there is a donut counter open. Not a drive-thru window. Not a gas station case under a heat lamp. An actual shop with an actual case, about thirty minutes up I-95 from Boca. Dixie Cream Donuts at 4833 Okeechobee Boulevard runs 24 hours on Friday and Saturday, which turns a Guava Cream at 1 AM from a fantasy into a plan. The all-night stretch actually runs longer than most people realize, because Saturday's 24 hours roll straight through into Sunday morning and the doors do not close again until 7 PM Sunday night. Every other day it behaves like a normal early bakery. A Maple Bacon at 5:30 AM is breakfast. A Maple Bacon at 2 AM is a decision, and this weekend you get to make it.
What You're Getting Into
The case reads like nobody could decide what kind of donut shop to run, so they ran all of them at once. There is a South Florida corner with Guava Cream and Key Lime sitting next to each other, and those two are the reason to drive up here rather than to whatever is closest to your house. There is a dessert corner with Banana Pudding, Oreo, M&M's and a Samoa that tastes like the cookie. There is a fried side of the counter with apple fritters, cherry fritters and cinnamon rolls. And then there is Maple Bacon, which is the loud one, and which you should get if there are two of you splitting.
That is not the whole list. The shop counts more than 35 flavors, plus a rotating donut of the week that is not printed on the regular menu at all. Most of what is in the case is yeast raised, which is why people keep using the word airy in reviews instead of heavy. The filled donuts go deep too: Bavarian cream, lemon, raspberry, blueberry, strawberry, and Long Johns stuffed with vanilla cream. If you want a full picture of a shop in one visit, get one filled and one fried. A fritter tells you the most about a place, because it is either fresh that morning or it is very obviously not.
One practical heads-up. Dixie Cream does not publish prices anywhere on its site, not on the homepage and not next to any variety, so walk in without a number in your head. Reviewers at the Fort Pierce original have mentioned a mixed dozen landing around twenty dollars, but nobody has posted a West Palm Beach price yet, so treat that as a rough guide and not a quote. There is also a case of baked goods that most people walk right past: key lime pie, chocolate silk pie, apple and blueberry pie sticks, blueberry and pistachio muffins, and chocolate chunk cookies.
The Insider Move
Ask what the donut of the week is. It rotates, it is not on the flavor list, and almost everyone orders without asking, which means the one genuinely limited thing in the case walks out with the people who knew to ask for it. Beyond that, the move nobody makes is the Saturday-into-Sunday one. Friday and Saturday are both open around the clock, and because Saturday never closes, a 3 AM Sunday run works too. That is the widest late-night window in the week and it is the one people miss, because they read "24 hours Friday and Saturday" and assume Sunday starts over. Monday through Thursday the shop opens at 5:30 AM and closes at 7 PM, so a weeknight craving is out of luck. If leaving the house is off the table entirely, DoorDash and Grubhub both deliver, so the 1 AM run can be somebody else's problem.
What People Are Saying
The West Palm Beach shop is new enough that the review count is still small, but the pattern in it is consistent. The Banana Pudding is the flavor people single out first and keep coming back to. More than one reviewer has gone out of their way to recommend the blueberry fritter, which is not on the site's main list and is worth asking about. The other thing that comes up repeatedly is that the donuts are lighter than they look, which is what yeast-raised dough does, and that the coffee is better than a donut shop's coffee usually is.
Worth getting right, because it gets repeated wrong constantly: Dixie Cream won Best Donuts in CBS12's ARC Florida "Dishin' It Out" competition, voted by viewers across Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast. That win belongs to the brand and its Fort Pierce original, not to this location. When CBS12 ran the story in October 2025, it described a shop that had been part of St. Lucie County mornings for nearly a century, with the Okeechobee Boulevard store still on its way. So the trophy is real, and it was earned about an hour north of here.
A Little Background
Dixie Cream started in Fort Pierce in 1929 and stayed a family shop for most of a century before it grew, first to Port Saint Lucie and now to West Palm Beach. The recipes came south with it. Okeechobee Boulevard is the newest chapter of that story rather than the original one, and it is the first one close enough to Boca to be a weekend plan.
