On September 25, pho came back to Boca Raton at a brand new address. Basilic, the Vietnamese standby that spent years on South Federal Highway downtown, reopened at 1901 NW 2nd Ave under a slightly new name: Basilic Vietnamese Cuisine.
The reason for the move: its old building was sold in April along with a group of neighboring buildings, all slated to be redeveloped into a hotel. The restaurant needed a new home, and now it has one.
What You're Getting Into
The reopening leads with the dishes regulars came back for: the pho, the spring rolls and the grilled meat dishes, all named as returning favorites in the reopening coverage. If one of those was your order at the old place, it made the move too.
The name changed just enough to notice. The downtown spot was best known as Basilic Vietnamese Grill, and the reopened restaurant now goes by Basilic Vietnamese Cuisine. You can dine in, take it to go, or order delivery through the restaurant's website.
In announcing the reopening, management said the goal goes beyond unlocking the doors again. They want to welcome customers back with good food and the warm, friendly service people have come to expect.
The Insider Move
Start with the spring rolls. Longtime reviewers single them out for the peanut sauce served alongside, and at least one regular says they are the benchmark every other spring roll in town gets measured against. Then go straight to a bowl of pho. Before you head over, check basilicvietnamesecuisine.com for the current hours, since the new address had not posted them publicly as of this writing.
What People Are Saying
Boca Raton Observer readers named it the 2025 Readers' Choice Runner-Up for Best Vietnamese Restaurant, a title it earned at the old address and now carries to the new one. On Tripadvisor, one longtime diner called Basilic's pho likely the most consistent in town and noted the bowls run large. Boca Raton Magazine and The Boca Raton Tribune both announced the reopening in the week leading up to it.
A Little Background
Basilic first landed in Boca at 200 S. Federal Highway, just off Palmetto Park Road, as a sibling of a Lauderdale-by-the-Sea original. It took over a space that had previously been Kin Noodle Bar. That building is now part of a hotel redevelopment, which is what sent the restaurant to NW 2nd Ave.
